Shopify - Past Orders

Why This Matters

Sharing read access to historical Shopify order data can help optimize your performance and drive new customers. To help optimize your campaigns, our Shopify app requests a standard set of permissions—similar to those used by most marketing platforms.

How to Grant Access

Select Settings from your  Shopify Admin Dashboard .
    Select Apps and sales channels.
    Click Develop apps.
Click Allow custom app development, then click again on the next page to confirm.
    Click Create an app.
Type “AXON Shopify Integration” into the App name field, then click Create app.
Select the API Credentials tab and click Configure Admin API scopes.
Type “read_products” into the search field and check the read_products permission checkbox.
Type “read_orders” into the search field and check the read_orders permission checkbox.
Type “read_customers” into the search field and check the read_customers permission checkbox.
Type “custom_pixels” into the search field and check the write_custom_pixels and read_custom_pixels permissions checkboxes.
Type “read_customer_events” into the search field and check the read_customer_events permission checkbox.
Type “read_marketing_events” into the search field and check the read_marketing_events permission checkbox.
Type “write_script_tags” into the search field and check the write_script_tags and read_script_tags permission checkboxes.

Permissions & Use Cases

Pixel Installation

We’re moving toward an automated pixel install experience (replacing the manual process).
write_custom_pixel enables us to install the AppLovin pixel automatically.
write_script_tags allow us to also include our cookie in order events, which helps identify users between browser-based pixel events and server-side events.

Performance Enhancement

read_ordersread_customersread_customer_events and read_marketing_events
provides us with historical event data similar to what we'd have if our pixel had been in place earlier.  This will enhance certain campaign types like our New Customer campaigns by providing historical information such as:
  • New or returning customers
  • New or returning visitors
  • Purchase history and behavior trends

Catalog & DPA Support

Real-time product data to populate creatives accurately for Dynamic Product Ads (DPA)
read_products allows us to retrieve updates to your catalog — including titles, images, and pricing — so ads always reflect your latest inventory.
